Giving Effective Presentations

Speaking in public can be an anxious prospect for many people. This workshop looks at how techniques used by actors in performance can help to build confidence, use your voice effectively, and keep your audience keen.

The day can include:

  • Building rapport with your audience
  • Voicework: keeping your voice clear and interesting
  • Effective impression management
  • Being aware of what the body is saying
  • Building confidence, and dealing with "stagefright"
  • Holding the focus: checking content, structure, signalling
  • The power of good storytelling
  • Thinking on your feet and answering questions: improvising

This is an "on your feet" day, an opportunity to get to grips with how you come across, in a sensitive and supportive context. Using your own presentation or generic material as a basis for work, we will use a similar approach to an actor or musician preparing for performance. We use singing and percussion to build vocal skills, and positive states to banish nerves.

NLP

We can also include NLP methods in the programmes. Neuro-Linguistic Programming is a system of techniques that involves looking at how we ‘programme’ ourselves to think and act. Some of our programming is useful - some of it needs to change. NLP techniques to help maximise your talents and skills. It helps with clarity of thinking, goal-setting, control, and accessing positive mental and emotional states to help make the best of your opportunities.
